Water conservancy and study of fresh water streams in the local area

Introduction to the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy and latest projects

Ryan Beltz, Executive Director of the Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy, will give us a short introduction to the Conservancy followed by a discussion of the Conservancy's latest projects and programs. Highlights include the annual Perkiomen Stream Clean-up, which routinely draws nearly 1,000 area residents and the Conservancy's youth conservation program. On this day, we will also be hosting students from Methacton HS & Perkiomen Valley HS for our bimonthly Student of the Month Awards. Sharon works to develop and nurture relationships with organizations leading to internship and job opportunities for Ursinus students and alumni. She is the liaison to employers in organizing and implementing efforts to recruit and hire UC students through job/internship postings, on campus interviews, information sessions, and the annual Job, Internship and Networking Fair. Sharon also assists UC students in defining and pursuing their career goals as a Career Advisor. TitleInterim Director of Career and Professional Development
BackgroundSharon came to Ursinus in 2011 after working in the Bi-College Career Development Office at Bryn Mawr College & Haverford College for over a decade. There she led the employer relations efforts for both institutions while also working with students as a Career Counselor.
Sharon is an active professional having held leadership positions with the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers including twice serving on the Board of Directors and receiving the Outstanding Member Award in 2009.
Sharon loves working at liberal arts colleges and is proud to be part of the Ursinus community. Education

Through interfaith cooperation, the PCRC provides tangible services, support and spiritual guidance to address the basic needs of persons within and beyond the Greater Pottstown area. We coordinate our programs and referrals to help clients improve their overall stability. Our current programs provide food security, clothing and household assistance, supportive services and referrals, case management and housing stability and an opportunity for individuals living in poverty to participate in an education and support program. She is the Principal ( CEO) of TrustOne Ministries a ministry of Spiritual Direction/ Christian Leadership Coaching, Church Consultancy and Congregational Transdivation . She is adjunct professor at Palmer Theological Seminary, Oasis Ministry for Spiritual Direction and Co-hort Leader for Spiritual Direction at Princeton Theological Seminary. Betty is an active spiritual director and founding member of Rhythms of the Spirit, an American Baptist Churches three day Spiritual divation retreat.
Rev. Betty serves as an advisory board member for American Baptist Women in Ministry. She is an often sought after preacher, bible study leader, and retreat and seminar speaker. She is a member of Spiritual Directors International and Spiritual Directors of Color, both national and international professional organizations. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Community artist and musician Henrik Stubbe Teglbjaerg has been the driving force behind an amazing Burning-Man style art installation/community experience called "The Firebird Festival" in Phoenixville. In keeping with Henrik's view of life -"a beautiful adventure unfolding around me, without my doing anything, (in which) I choose to partake. It fills me with joy, beauty and bliss." For 15 years Henrik has brought that unfolding beauty to the community in the form of the Firebird Festival.

Topic of Discussion: The work that the new Borough Business Development Committee is doing to attract new businesses to Collegeville Borough, and how they are working together with the CEDC to promote both the new and existing businesses. About Cathy Kernen: Cathy has over 45 years’ experience in communications and marketing, and has held executive level and management positions both in the U.S. and internationally with four pharmaceutical companies: AstraZeneca, Astra/Astra Merck, Merck, and CIBA-Geigy (now Novartis). Since 2007, Cathy has headed up her own PR agency, Kernen Communications LLC, which is presently staffed by Cathy and one full-time contractor. Highly active in the Collegeville Community, Cathy is in her fourth term on Collegeville Borough Council, and currently serves as the head of the Business Development Committee and the Personnel Committee, and is a member of the Central Perkiomen Valley Regional Planning Commission. She is also President of the non-profit Collegeville Economic Development Corporation, which works to promote local businesses and sponsors numerous community events. She works closely with Ursinus College in joint promotions, including the popular fall and winter “Dinner & a Show” promotions with Ursinus’ Theater and Dance Departments and local restaurants. At this time, she and Karen McCaslin are organizing and overseeing the annual Collegeville-Trappe Memorial Day Parade, which will be held May 28th. |

Amanda Rees is the Montgomery County Dairy Princess for this year. She is in her senior year of studies in large animal and dairy science at Delaware valley University. She is from a 30-acre farm in Limerick, Pa, where she raises dairy steers. She is very passionate about the dairy industry because of the goodness of hard work to produce a nutritious product. Her topic of discussion with be Dairy nutrition and about Fill a Glass with Hope campaign she is raising money for. For every dollar raised, a family in need will get 8 servings of dairy.

Since 1995 Mr. Yeager has trained over 100,000 local, state and federal law enforcement officers. Mr. Yeager is a frequent expert with media outlets including a featured episode of Forensic Files [“Bump and Run” Season 3, Episode 21 2002] and a new History Channel series entitled ‘True Monsters’. Mr. Yeager has lectured at many higher education institutions throughout the U.S. such as Drexel and Howard universities.
