Collegeville Police Chief's Community Advisory BoardSupported by a Rotary District 7430 Grant
In an effort to promote unity and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community, a unique Police Unity Coin was created with support from a Rotary District 7430 Grant. One side of the coin features the Rotary Four-Way Test, while the other showcases the Collegeville Police Department emblem, symbolizing the connection and shared values between Rotary and local law enforcement.
This initiative emerged as part of a broader effort to support Chief John Barnshaw in his new role as Police Chief and to establish stronger ties between the department and the Collegeville community.
A Community Advisory Board was formed to guide this effort, composed of respected local leaders committed to collaboration, transparency, and service:
- Chief John Barnshaw – Collegeville Police Department
- Mayor Aidsand “Ace” Wright-Riggins
- Jay Browning – Collegeville Rotary / Browning Advisors LLC
- Heather Lobban-Viravong – Ursinus College
- Morgan McKinney – Ursinus College Student
- Rev. Dr. Marcia Bailey – Pastor, First Baptist Church of Pottstown
The board has convened quarterly since October with a focus on the following goals:
- Collaborating with the Police Department to address public safety issues.
- Creating a platform for the Chief to engage with community concerns and identify actionable solutions.
- Building strategies to improve trust and communication between the Department and local residents.
- Participating in outreach to gather feedback and foster mutual understanding within the community.
This initiative, made possible through Rotary’s support and values, reflects our shared commitment to “Service Above Self” and to building a stronger, more unified Collegeville.
