For more than six decades, one man quietly helped shape the character of Collegeville.
His influence can be found in the businesses that strengthened our local economy, the organizations that continue to serve our community, and the countless lives he touched through kindness, generosity, and leadership.
To many, he was a respected businessman and real estate entrepreneur.
To others, he was a trusted advisor, mentor, philanthropist, and friend.
To members of Collegeville Area Rotary, he was simply Vince—a Rotarian whose life embodied the Rotary motto, Service Above Self.
While awards and accomplishments tell part of Vince Raffeo’s story, they do not fully explain why he was so deeply respected. His greatest gift was never measured in dollars, buildings, or titles. It was measured by the people he encouraged, the opportunities he created, and the community he helped build.
A Life Rooted in Collegeville
Born in 1931 to Sicilian immigrant parents, Vince learned the value of hard work at an early age, helping his family in the produce business before eventually transforming the family grocery into one of Collegeville’s first modern supermarkets.
As the community grew, so did his vision. He recognized possibilities where others saw empty storefronts or aging buildings. Throughout his career he invested in commercial properties, supported local businesses, and became one of the area’s most respected real estate entrepreneurs. Yet those closest to Vince often remarked that his greatest investments were never in buildings—they were in people.
Rotary: A Lifetime of Service
Vince joined Collegeville Rotary in 1960.
That decision would influence the next sixty-six years of his life.
Over the decades he served as Club President, welcomed new members, mentored future leaders, and quietly provided guidance whenever it was needed. His leadership helped guide the club through decades of growth and change, including supporting the inclusion of women into Rotary when the organization began opening its membership.
He never sought the spotlight.
Instead, he preferred to celebrate the accomplishments of others and remind fellow Rotarians that meaningful service happens one person, one project, and one act of kindness at a time.
Generations of Rotarians have been inspired by his example.
A Builder Beyond Business
Although many knew Vince through his business success, his impact reached far beyond commerce.
He served on the Board of Directors of Victory Bank, where he continued supporting local businesses and economic development.
Through SCORE, he freely shared decades of experience with aspiring entrepreneurs.
His generosity also extended to Ursinus College, where a landmark real estate gift reflected both his appreciation for education and his commitment to ensuring Collegeville continued to thrive for generations to come. No matter the organization, Vince believed success carried with it a responsibility to give back.
A Champion for Collegeville
Few people have loved Collegeville as deeply as Vince Raffeo. He supported local events, encouraged civic partnerships, strengthened downtown businesses, volunteered with community organizations, and remained actively engaged well into his nineties.
Whether attending Rotary meetings, participating in community celebrations, or mentoring the next generation of leaders, Vince never stopped looking for ways to improve the town he loved.
His optimism was contagious.
His encouragement was genuine.
His commitment never wavered.

For more than ninety years, Vince Raffeo did exactly that. His legacy can be found in every young entrepreneur he encouraged, every organization he strengthened, every Rotarian he inspired, and every neighbor who benefited from his generosity.
His life reminds us that true leadership is not measured by the buildings we leave behind, but by the people we lift up along the way. As members of Collegeville Area Rotary, we are proud to have called Vince our fellow Rotarian, our mentor, and our friend.
